the arts, charity and community
As an ex drama kid, a village-dweller and an arts lover, Keredy always loves to work for clients in this area, as do the Hannes Avengers team. There is often a non-profit crossover, and Hannes is no stranger to working with charities.
Established in 2020 when DJs and music lovers around the world took to the streaming site Twitch to play, listen, dance and chat, the Global Funk Fam is a collection of professional and hobbiest DJs and keen consumers of banging tunes. We were asked to support them by creating content for their Instagram and Facebook pages that would build engagement and grow the community as well as direct new people to its Discord channel and DJ live streams.
“Social media is time consuming but absolutely necessary for us to support our DJ and fan community, so we asked Keredy for some support with ideation and content creation. She elevated content with snappy copy in our super friendly tone of voice and on brand images, which she created templates for in Canva. She just gets on with it and we like that!”
Roger Griffiths is a watercolour and mixed media artist, and his website was starting to look dated. He approached Hannes to design a new website that allowed people to easily search paintings by different categories and tags and view multiple images and videos of each work. As soon as it was completed, Roger received many compliments from his supporters and has seen an increase in interest in his work.
“My new website is easy to navigate and really shows off my art, and there are a lot of paintings going back to 2010. Keredy was extremely helpful in showing me how to keep the website updated, create new pages for new pieces of work and enabled me to include multiple images and videos, which I couldn’t do before. An all-round success.”
Prior to contacting Hannes, Yelvertoft Village Hall didn’t have an online presence and it was crucial to build the business following some upgrades. A booking system was integrated into the site so availability can be checked, and bookings can be made online – easier for the hall committee and people looking for a space to hire. The hall is modern and large, with numerous rooms and facilities, outdoor space and adjacent play park, so it needed to be showcased through images and video.
Hannes created this content as well as the website copy and designed the structure and aesthetics of the site. A member of the community offered drone footage of the hall and surroundings, so we utilised this to make an impression on the homepage.
“Since the site went live, we have seen increased enquiries so we’re grateful for Hannes SEO knowledge as well as copywriting and design skills. People always comment how great the website is too, so we couldn’t be happier. Hannes has also been helpful in providing advice at no cost when we have ideas; like creating a new page to talk about how our Midlands location is perfect for family and friend meetups when people are coming from north, east, south and west. I’d happily recommend Hannes’ services.”
The non-for-profit organisation that manages Yelvertoft Pocket Park received some funding for a website, on-site signage and a wind-up audio post to raise awareness of the community space in the north-west of Northamptonshire. We worked with local illustrator Claire McElfatrick – who created a map image and colour sketches and images of some of the plant and animal species that can be found in the Pocket Park – wrote snippets about the flora and fauna and designed the information board. We wrote the copy for their website which details the heritage, habitats, species spotting and volunteering and information and then built it.
“Keredy was very proactive and came up with the website design and wrote the copy for us to edit and add to, which she also did for the sign board that can be found at the entrance to Yelvertoft Pocket Park. The Pocket Park is an important community asset and we’ve achieved our goal of promoting the nature that can be found within it and how people can get involved.”
Ravensthorpe Village Hall (RVH) is a rentable space for people in the community, but they also have a programme of regular classes provided by businesses and sports groups, plus the team who manage the hall arrange cinema nights and courses. RVH required a website that clearly promoted what was on and the hall facilities, so we designed a structure that included a main calendar of events as well as specific event types pages. Event pages were created as templates so the RVH team could add new ones anytime. Most recently, we integrated a hall booking solution so people can now self-serve, which takes administration pressure of the volunteers who manage the hiring process.
“We are not the most technically minded group of people but Keredy has always explained things in a clear way and provided written instructions so we can manage the site ourselves and keep costs down. However, whenever we’ve had a question or we’ve made an error, Keredy has always been there to give a helping hand. Our hall is popular to hire and many people come to our events, and having a straightforward website is crucial to this success.”
Children’s charity Spurgeons was one of Hannes early clients – we project managed the revelopment of their website over a set number of weeks, working from their office on regular days to be able to liaise with internal stakeholders.
